March 27, 2010 - Sensei Mariusz Janicki of World Kanreikai Headquarters traveled to the West Coast to take part in the IKO Matsushima Championship in Portland, OR. He was accompanied and coached by Sensei Denis Cordeiro of Montreal Kanreikai Karate.

At 157.5 lbs, Sensei Mariusz was one of 11  knockdown competitors who were all ready to fight hard for the lightweight division's title.

In his first fight, Mariusz took only 24 seconds to knock out his opponent who could simply not stand up to his powerful strikes.

Sensei Mariusz's domination was also evident during the first minute of his second fight until he got surprised by a kick that earned his opponent half a point. Mariusz came back strong but didn't have enough time to take out his opponent and lost by decision.

The 3rd place final was a one-sided fight. After only one round, judges were unanimous in their decision in favor of Sensei Mariusz, after he had offered a very solid and convincing performance.

Once again, Sensei Mariusz has shown great skill and lots of determination as a knockdown fighter. He has made World Kanreikai Karate proud!

Congratulations Sensei Mariusz!
