Shihan Carl Tremblay, 5th dan, has been training in karate since 1981. He has taken part in numerous karate tournaments in North America and has won several titles, mainly in full contact fighting.
Shihan Carl opened his karate school in Jonquière (QC, Canada) in 1982 as part of the World Oyama Karate Organization. After 20 years of practicing, teaching and promoting karate in Northern Quebec, he became the first Canadian to reach the rank of Shihan (5th dan) within the World Oyama Karate Organization.
Shihan Carl joined World Kanreikai Karate in 1984, when Soshu Shigeru Oyama closed his New York school and stepped down as Director of World Oyama Karate.
Since then, Shihan Carl has largely contributed to the rise of World Kanreikai Karate in Northern Quebec. Every year, he organizes the Kanreikai Défi/Challenge, a popular karate tournament that attracts numerous participants from Québec and Eastern Canada. He is an enthusiastic teacher who makes sure that all his students benefit from the practice of karate. Supported by a dynamic team of Sensei and Senpai, Shihan Carl has built a thriving school where he leads a steadily increasing number of students into the world of karate.
